ORDINANCE NUMBER 05-09 <br /> AN ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> RESTRICTING PARKING FOR SNOW REMOVAL <br /> The City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes does ordain as follows: <br /> Purpose and Intent. The purpose and intent of this ordinance is to repeal <br /> Ordinance#194 relating to snow removal on the streets and to adopt a new <br /> Ordinance—Ordinance#05-09, Restricting Parking for Snow Removal in the City <br /> of Pequot Lakes. <br /> Section 1. Snow Removal: <br /> Public safety requires the rapid and efficient removal of snow or ice from city streets, <br /> public highways or other thoroughfares. The presence of motor vehicles or other vehicles <br /> in the street and adjacent parking areas limits the ability of snow removal crews to <br /> evacuate snow in an efficient manner. <br /> Section 2. Parking Restrictions: <br /> (a) No person shall stop, stand, or park any vehicle or permit it to stand on any street <br /> in the city between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on any day between November 1 <br /> and March 31. <br /> (b) Exceptions. Police cars, hearses, ambulances, and fire department vehicles and <br /> vehicles responding to emergency calls are exempt from the prohibition of subsection(a) <br /> of this section. Vehicles called out for emergency repairs to electric light and power lines, <br /> telephone lines, natural gas and sewer and water systems are also exceptions. <br /> (c) Removal of vehicles. The police department or authorized representative of the city <br /> is hereby authorized to remove such vehicle from the street or public parking lot and to <br /> store the vehicles for the owner thereof. The removal and storage charge shall be paid by <br /> the owner of such vehicle. The City of Pequot Lakes shall not be liable for any damage <br /> to the vehicles caused by the towing of the vehicle. <br /> Section 3. Penalty for Violation. <br /> A violation of any section of this ordinance shall be punishable by payment of a fine, to <br /> be set by resolution. The fine shall be doubled if the fine is not paid within seven days, <br /> and/or if the violator has received a parking violation within the last 30 days. <br /> Section 4. Owner of Vehicle Presumed Responsible for Violations. <br />
