ORDINANCE NUMBER 06-27 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3.2 DEFINITIONS, <br /> SECTION 7.1, SUBDIVISION 5D TO BECOME SECTION 7.1, SUBDIVISON 6, <br /> AND CREATING SECTION 7.1, SUBDIVISION 5D AREA IDENTIFICATION <br /> SIGNS. <br /> The City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes does ordain as follows: <br /> Section 1. Purpose and Intent: The purpose and intent of this ordinance is to <br /> amend Section 3.2, Definitions, to include"Signs, Area Identification", Section 7.1, <br /> Subdivision 5D, Offsite Signs, to become Section 7.1, Subdivision 6, and to create a new <br /> Section 7.1, Subdivision 5D Area Identification Signs. <br /> Section 2. Section 3.2 Definitions shall be amended to include: <br /> Signs, Area Identification. A sign located at the entrance or entrances of the <br /> area that is used to identify a common area containing a group of structures on <br /> a minimum of five acres, such as a residential subdivision, where there exists <br /> an association that provides for the maintenance of the sign or structures. <br /> Section 3. Section 7.1, Subdivision 5D Offsite Signs be amended so that the <br /> numbering is Section 7.1, Subdivision 6, rather than 5D. <br /> Section 4. Provisions for Area Identification Signs be added as Section 7.1, <br /> Subdivision 5D and read as follows: <br /> D. Residential Districts, including Rural Residential, Transition Residential, <br /> Shoreline Residential, and Urban Residential. <br /> 1. Area Identification Signs are permitted by Conditional Use Permit in the <br /> residential districts listed above, and must meet the following criteria: <br /> i. The size of the sign shall not exceed 32 square feet in area. <br /> ii. The sign shall not exceed eight (8) feet in height, as measured from <br /> the existing ground elevation to the top of the sign. Any <br /> landscaping, grading, structure, or other material that raises the <br /> level of the existing elevation of the ground shall be included in the <br /> height of the sign. <br /> iii. Any such sign shall be erected only on a corner lot at the <br /> intersection of local or collector streets with collector or arterial <br /> roadways and only on property that is a part of the residential <br /> development identified herein. <br /> iv. The sign shall be located on private property at the required <br /> setbacks for the zoning district, as detailed in Chapter V of this <br /> Ordinance.
