ORDINANCE NO. 06-22 <br /> AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE ENFORCEMENT <br /> OF UNREASONABLE ACCELERATION OFFENCES AND ISSUANCE <br /> OF PENALTIES RELATED TO THESE OFFENSES <br /> CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> COUNTY OF CROW WING <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> The City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes does ordain as follows: <br /> Purpose. Unreasonable acceleration offense procedures pursuant to this Section are <br /> intended to provide the public and the City of Pequot Lakes with the means to monitor <br /> and enforce safe driving practices within the city limits of Pequot Lakes. These <br /> procedures shall be established by uniform regulations as to what the offense of <br /> unreasonable acceleration is by definition, what type of offense it is and what the penalty <br /> shall be for those who have been charged with the offense. <br /> Section 1. DEFINITIONS. No person shall start or accelerate any motor vehicle <br /> with an unnecessary exhibition of speed on any public or private way within the city. <br /> Prima facie evidence of such unnecessary exhibition of speed shall be squealing or <br /> screeching sounds emitted by the tires or the throwing of sand or gravel by tires of said <br /> vehicle or both. <br /> Section 2. AMENDMENTS. It is the intention of the City Council that all future <br /> amendments to any statutes and rules referenced or adopted by reference in this <br /> ordinance are also referenced or adopted by reference as if they had been in existence at <br /> the time this ordinance was adopted. <br /> Section 3. PENALTY. Any person violating any provision of this section shall be <br /> guilty of a petty misdemeanor and shall be subject to penalty by fine of not more than <br /> $100.00. <br /> Section 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall become effective upon its passage <br /> and publication as provided by law. <br /> Passed,and adopted by the Pequot Lakes City Council, this 3rd day of October, 2006. <br /> Cathy lecha, Mayor <br /> Attest: Sandra Peine, City Clerk <br />
