Mayor/Council will: <br /> 1. Ensure that the city emergency management director has activated/is <br /> activating the EOC. <br /> 2. Report to the EOC. <br /> 3. Ensure that the city emergency management director and/or service <br /> chiefs provide an initial damage assessment and casualty report. <br /> 4. Ensure that the city emergency management director and the service <br /> chiefs brief the EOC staff as to the status of the disaster. <br /> 5. Be ready to issue a declaration of emergency. <br /> 6. Serve as the City Public Information Officer (PIO) , or designate a <br /> member of the city staff to perform this function. <br /> 7. In consultation with the city emergency management director, <br /> determine whether or not state or federal assistance should be <br /> `.. requested. (City resources must be fully committed before state or <br /> federal assistance will be available. If assistance is requested, <br /> be specific. ) <br /> 7.
