CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> RESOLUTION 04-20 <br /> A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> FOR THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> Whereas, the State of Minnesota has granted municipalities the authority to plan in <br /> Minnesota Statute 462.358, and <br /> Whereas, in Minnesota Statute 462.3535 the State of Minnesota has encouraged <br /> municipalities to prepare and implement a community-based comprehensive plan, <br /> and <br /> Whereas, Minnesota Statute 462.351 indicates that by preparing a comprehensive plan, the <br /> City of Pequot Lakes can prepare for anticipated changes and by such bring about <br /> significant savings in both private and public expenditures, and <br /> Whereas, Minnesota Statute 462.351 indicates that municipal planning will assist in <br /> developing lands more wisely to serve citizens more effectively, will make the <br /> provision of public services less costly and will achieve a more secure tax base <br /> and that these are goals of the City of Pequot Lakes, and <br /> Whereas, the City of Pequot Lakes has contacted neighboring municipalities and townships, <br /> Crow Wing and Cass counties and the Minnesota Department of Natural <br /> Resources for participation in the preparation of a comprehensive plan and for <br /> coordination with any plans prepared by the afore mentioned entities, and <br /> Whereas, the City of Pequot Lakes has held over twenty public meetings to solicit public <br /> comments in the preparation of a comprehensive plan, and <br /> Whereas, the City of Pequot Lakes has exceeded the requirements of State Statute 462.355, <br /> Subdivision 2 by holding two public hearings on the proposed comprehensive <br /> plan that were noticed in the official newspaper of the municipality at least ten <br /> days prior to the hearings, and <br /> Whereas, a quorum of the City of Pequot Lakes Planning Commission attended both public <br /> hearings and received the written and verbal comments of interested parties, and <br /> Whereas, the City of Pequot Lakes Planning Commission on July 15, 2004 recommended <br /> the adoption of the comprehensive plan, and <br /> Whereas, the City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes has received the Planning <br /> Commission's recommendation. <br />
