A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> Resolution #08-17 <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BOARD <br /> WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 203B.13 authorizes the formation of an <br /> Absentee Ballot Board which would examine absentee ballot return envelopes for <br /> completeness and accuracy at any time during the 30 days before an election; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Crow Wing County Auditor has determined that it would be in the <br /> best interest of all voters who find it necessary to vote with an absentee ballot to <br /> create an Absentee Ballot Board; and <br /> WHEREAS, to ensure consistency, the Crow Wing County Auditor is requesting <br /> complete participation by all municipalities within the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, this Board will consist of Crow Wing County Auditor's Office election <br /> staff; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pequot Lakes concurs with this decision and deems it <br /> appropriate to authorize creation of an Absentee Ballot Board for the 2008 and all <br /> subsequent elections. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that an Absentee <br /> Ballot Board with the authority granted by Minnesota Statutes 203B.13 be and <br /> hereby is established for the 2008 elections and all future elections. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when circumstances do not require the <br /> convening of the Absentee Ballot Board that absentee ballots will be processed <br /> by the appropriate election judges at each precinct polling location. <br /> Adopted by the Pequot Lakes City Council this 3rd day of June, 2008. <br /> 174- <br /> Cathy alecha, Mayor <br /> ATT T: <br /> Sandra A.
