certificate from a veterinarian to the effect that the applicant's dog has been <br />`-' vaccinated for rabies as provided in Section 9-2.12 Subdivision 3. <br />2. Fees. The owner of a dog shall pay a license fee to the City on or before <br />the first day of January in each even-numbered year, or within thirty (30) days of <br />acquiring ownership or possession of any unlicensed dog. License fees shall be <br />set by the City Council by resolution annually. <br />3. Receipt and Ta�s. Upon the payment of the license fee, the City Clerk <br />shall deliver a receipt to the person who pays the fees, and retain a duplicate of <br />the license. The City Clerk shall procure a sufficient number of suitable tags, the <br />shape of which shall be different for each license period, and shall deliver one tag <br />to the person paying the license fee. <br />4. Affixing Tags• The owner shall cause the tag to be affixed by a <br />permanent fastening to the collar of the dog so licensed in such a manner that the <br />tag may be easily seen by the officers of the City of Pequot Lakes. Any dog <br />within the City not wearing a tag for the current license period shall be deemed to <br />be unlicensed. <br />5. Impoundin� Unlicensed Do�s. The Animal Control Officer shall mail <br />written notice to the owner of any unlicensed dog. Such notice shall be mailed to <br />the location where the dog is being harbored or kept, if known, and to the address <br />� designated by the owner on the license application. An owner shall license any <br />unlicensed dog within fourteen (14) days after said notice is mailed. <br />� <br />6. Duplicate Ta�s. In case any dog's tag is lost, a duplicate may be issued by <br />the City Clerk upon the presentation of a receipt showing the payment of the <br />license fee for the current license period, and after payment by the applicant of a <br />fee, to be set by the City Council by resolution annually, for issuance of a <br />duplicate license. <br />7. Adoption of Fees. All fees for the licensing, impounding, and <br />maintenance of dogs, including penalties for late application, may be fixed and <br />determined by the City Council, adopted by resolution and uniformly enforced. <br />Such fees may from time to time be amended by the City Council resolution. A <br />copy of the resolution setting forth currently effective fees shall be kept on file in <br />the office of the City Clerk and shall be open to inspection during regular business <br />hours. <br />Section 9-2.8. DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED ANIMALS <br />Any dog which is not claimed as provided in this Chapter after seven (7) days of <br />impounding may be sold to anyone desiring to purchase the animal.
