PEQUOT LAKES <br /> PARKS COMMISSION <br /> THURSDAY, AUGUST 14, 2008 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Board Members Tweed, Jurchen, Den Hartog <br /> Members Absent: Koslofsky and Johnson <br /> Staff Present: Mayor Malecha; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; and Mike Loven, <br /> Maintenance Supervisor <br /> 1 . Call Meeting to Order <br /> Meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. <br /> 2. Approve Park Board Minutes (June 12, 2008) <br /> MOTION WAS MADE BY BOARD MEMBER DENHARTOG TO ACCEPT <br /> THE JUNE 12, 2008 MINUTES. JURCHEN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 3. Paul Bunyan Footprints <br /> Mayor Malecha noted that the Paul Bunyan Footprints are ready to be <br /> installed. The Commission discussed location for the footprints. During the <br /> discussion it was questioned whether the DNR would allow the City to put <br /> playground equipment in the park. Mike Loven stated he would check with <br /> the DNR regarding the playground equipment. The Commission indicated <br /> that if playground equipment is allowed, it could be placed on the <br /> northeast corner of the park. It was also stated that the northeast corner <br /> would be a good area for the footprints. Faye Tweed and Trudy Jurchen <br /> volunteered to meet in the park to determine where the footprints would be <br /> placed. <br /> 4. Gildner Park <br /> The Clerk updated the Commission on the Council action of accepting the <br /> park. She noted that the attorney is finalizing the paperwork. The <br /> Commission discussed the type of sign that will be put in the park. It was <br /> the consensus of the Commission to use a sign with a light background <br /> and darker letters — (Brown background with white letters). The Sign will <br /> read Gildner Park- Established 2008 - In Memory of Les and Marcy <br /> Gildner. <br /> 5. Bands in the Park <br />
