PEQUOT LAKES <br /> PARK COMMISSION <br /> THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2009 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Chair Tweed, Commission Members Jurchen, Johnson, and <br /> Den Hartog, <br /> Staff Present: Council Member Malecha; Mike Loven, Public Works <br /> Supervisor; Sandy Peine, City Clerk, and Mayor Adams <br /> 1 . Call Meeting to Order <br /> Meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Tweed <br /> 2. Approve Park Commission Minutes <br /> MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER JURCHEN TO ACCEPT <br /> THE JANUARY 8, 2009, PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. <br /> COMMISSIONER DEN HARTOG SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 3. Paul Bunyan Byway Update <br /> Kathy Moore was present and gave a brief update on activities associated <br /> with the Paul Bunyan Trail. She spoke about the footprint program and a <br /> new event that is called geocaching event using a GPS unit. Kathy stated <br /> that they are looking for a member to join the geocaching committee. <br /> 4. Park Commission Members <br /> The members reviewed two applications that were received for <br /> appointment to the Park Commission; one from Barb Sjoblad and one <br /> from Pete Clement. The members felt that both were excellent applicants <br /> and both had special qualities to give to the Park Commission. After much <br /> discussion, the Commission members decided to recommend that Pete <br /> Clement be appointed to the Commission. The Commission further felt <br /> that Barb Sjoblad could possible be available for advice or assistance on <br /> certain projects. <br /> COMMISSIONER JOHNSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY <br /> COUNCIL THAT PETE CLEMENT BE APPOINTED TO THE PARK <br /> COMMISSION FOR A THREE-YEAR TERM (CURRENT TO DECEMBER <br />
