Sandy Peine
From: leake5 @charter.net
Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 12:41 PM
• —To: speine©pequotlakes-mn.gov
Cc: leake5 @charter.net
Subject: Proposed Property Donation
I 'm not sure my computer sent the whole message, so I ' ll revise and shorten it:
Background: Lester and Marcella Gildner purchased the four lots we've discussed to build
on, but due to Les's health couldn' t do that. Les has passed away, and I 've ended up with
the lots.
Motivation: If I can donate the lots in Les 's memory during Marci ' s lifetime, I think it
would give her satisfation. She is 87, and while in good health it would be better to do
this sooner than later.
Conditions: None other than following.
1 . The donation needs to be accomplished during Marci 's lifetime to fulfill my purpose in
making it. If the City defers developing the property for its use, thats no problem.
2 . There needs to be a plaque (I 'm happy to pay for it) along the lines of "Gildner
Park" , or "Donated in Memory of Lester Gildner by His Loving Wife" . This should be a
least nailed to a tree so Marci can see it if she can make the trip.
3 . The City should send Marci a letter expressing appreciation for the donation in Les's
memory, and indicating the property will be put to a public use -- neighborhood park, or
whatever the City deems appropriate.
1. Conveyance will be by quit claim deed. Your attorney will find title straight
`'foreward, and I can furnish an abstract to be updated.
5 . The City should give me a letter indicating the value of the donation. If I 'm able to
realize any tax benefit I can then distribute it to Marci's grandchildren as a gift from
her. Determine value as you will, but I note the tax appraisals include market value and
I can furnish copies if you don' t have them.
Please let me know the City's decision at your earliest convenience, and thanks again for
your thoughtful call. Bst Rgds. Tom.
1
