To Pequot Lakes Park Board:
Dear Chairman and Park Board Members.
The Pequot Lakes Woman's Club has placed, planted and maintain flower barrels along the
Paul Bunyan Trail for many years. The City of Pequot Lakes' maintenance department has
stored these barrels during the winter. This year it is necessary to replace those barrels as
they have rotted out over the years. Since originally purchasing the barrels, the barrels are
now difficult to obtain and the price has almost tripled. However,we feel that the flower
barrels along the trail are an asset to the downtown area of Pequot. We are asking if the Park
Board can help purchase the new barrels by paying one half of the purchase price. The
Woman's Club will continue to purchase the flowers and dirt and will continue to maintain
the barrels during the summer. I have checked several places in the Brainerd Area and find
that Landsburg Garden Center can obtain the barrels for$575.00 (includes tax.) The cost to
each organization will be $287.50. We will need to place the order soon in order to plant the
flowers in the spring. We appreciate your considering our request and look forward to your
reply.
Joanne Johnson
President, Pequot Lakes Woman's Club
12— 1/2 size Wooden Whiskey Barrels (Includes two barrels placed on trailside outside of
Chamber building.
Places callech
Fleet Farm—Doesn't carry them anymore.
Wal-Mart—only has 17 Inch small barrels(too small)
Home Depot—only has 22.5 inch fiberglass barrels @$39.98 each (No wooden barrels -
fiberglass barrels not ideal)
Tree House—Said he would check with his supplier and call back. (Haven't heard from
them.)
Landsburg - Checked with her supplier, can get a pallet of 12 barrels at $45.00 each(pallet
price) $80.00 shipping will be paid by Landsburg. Total price $540 +tax = $575.00
Proposed split with park board - $287.50 each.
