Park Board Minutes
November 10, 2005
Page 2
Island Vista Plat
The Park Board reviewed Island Vista Plat and concurred that a park
dedication fee of 10% should be made to the City.
Wilderness Point
The Park Board reviewed the Wilderness Point PUD. The Park Board
discussed the issue of Wilderness Point being a private development. The
Park Board felt that there would be access problems if the developer were
required to donate park land.
The Park Board requested to know the approximate amount of money the
10% market value would bring prior to making a decision.
COMMISSIONER SCHAEFER MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE
COUNCIL THAT THE DEVELOPER OF WILDERNESS POINT PAY A
PARK DEDICATION FEE RATHER THAN DONATE LAND.
COMMISSIONER SAMUELSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION
CARRIED 5-0.
5. Tree Board
The Clerk indicated that she received an application for recertification as a
"Tree City." She noted that the City had a Tree Board at one time but that
all terms have expired on that board. She questioned whether the Park
Board would like to take on the duties and title of Tree Board.
COMMISSIONER TWEED MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE
COUNCIL THAT THE PARK BOARD BECOME TREE BOARD AND
THAT THE CITY APPLY FOR RECERTIFICATION OF ITS TREE
BOARD STATUS. COMMISSIONER SAMUELSON SECONDED THE
MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
6. Christmas Lighting
The Park Board discussed the cost to purchase Christmas lights for the
trees, gazebo and shelter in the park. They also discussed the cost to
purchase lights for the light poles. Cathy Malecha indicated that the City
has received $1,560 in donations for holiday lighting. It was the consensus
of the Park Board to purchase enough lights for the park with the
donations. The members suggested waiting to see if any more donations
come in which would then be used for the lighting on the light poles. The
Board Members felt that this may need to wait until next year. The Board
indicated that the park lighting should be done prior to Thanksgiving.
