PEQUOT LAKES <br /> PARK COMMISSION <br /> — THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2010 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Chair Tweed, Commissioners, Jurchen, Johnson, and, <br /> Clement <br /> Members Absent: Commissioner DenHartog <br /> Also Present: Council Member Malecha; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Chuck <br /> Marohn, City Planning Consultant <br /> 1 . Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Tweed <br /> 2. Approve Park Commission Minutes <br /> MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER JOHNSON TO APPROVE <br /> THE NOVEMBER 12, 2009, PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. <br /> COMMISSIONER JURCHEN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> _ CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 3. Discussion on City's Comprehensive Plan <br /> Chuck Marohn – update on comp plan process. He stated that the <br /> Planning Commission would like to receive input from the Park Board on <br /> the Recreation and Natural Resources Sections of the Comp Plan. He <br /> explained that the Park Board should look at the future park and <br /> recreation needs of the City. Discussion was held regarding lack of <br /> funding. Chuck Marohn explained that the vision and planning for the <br /> future must come first. <br /> The Park Commission talked about the use of lakes in the area for private <br /> resident use. Discussion was also held regarding the possibility of having <br /> a skating rink in the City. Also discussed was the need for more <br /> playground equipment. <br /> 4. Bands in the Park <br /> Cathy Malecha talked about the bands in the park. She stated that she <br /> has booked many bands and reviewed the schedule with the Park <br /> Commission. She indicated that the cost for the bands so far is $800 over <br /> budget. She indicated that she would be asking for donations to cover this <br /> overage. Discussion was held regarding the remodeling of the Gazebo. <br />
