Park Board Minutes
October 13, 2011
Page 2
Mike Loven noted that the City has received a complaint about the Field of
Dreams Park not being mowed. He explained that the reason the park is
not mowed is because there are many small trees planted in the park
which makes is very difficult to mow. Mike Loven stated that it has been
the intention of the City and past Councils to grow a buffer between the
highway and the homes. The Clerk provided past Council minutes from
1999 and 2000 which stated the intention of the Council to plant trees in
the park as a buffer. The Park Commission discussed the item and felt
that the original intent of the park to maintain a buffer should be continued.
COMMISSIONER BRUSCH MOVED TO CONTINUE PLANTING TREES
IN THE PARK TO CREATE A NATURAL BUFFER BETWEEN THE
ROAD AND THE HOMES AND TO MAINTAIN THE INTENT OF THE
PAST COUNCIL THAT THE PARK BE USED AS A BUFFER.
COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION
CARRIED 4-0.
6. Bands in the Park
Chair Clement thanked Cathy Malecha for all she has done in starting and
continuing the Bands in the Park program.
