Park Commission Highlights in 2010: <br /> • Discussion on Comprehensive Plan- Chuck Marohn presented the Park and <br /> Recreation section of the Comprehensive plan. The Park Commission discussed <br /> the need to look at the future park and recreation needs of the City. <br /> • Bands in the Park Program—This program continues to gain momentum with the <br /> community. In 2010 there was a band concert almost every weekend of the <br /> summer and the audience continues to grow. <br /> • Band Shelter—A new band shelter has been constructed which now takes the <br /> place of the old gazebo that was in the park. <br /> • Gildner Park—Playground equipment was added to Gildner Park. <br /> • Christmas Lighting—The Park Commission lights up the town with Christmas <br /> lights each holiday season. <br /> • Chokecherry Trees—The City has been proclaimed the Chokecherry Capitol of <br /> Minnesota. Chokecherry trees were sold to area residents and businesses. <br /> • Bobber Park—The Park Commission plants flowers in planters at Bobber Park <br /> each spring. <br /> • Park Brochure—A 2010 version of the Park Brochure was designed and given to <br /> area businesses, resorts and the Chamber for distribution. The brochure includes a <br /> calendar of events for the summer and highlights of the parks in Pequot Lakes. <br /> • Benches and Signage at Cole Memorial Building—The Park Commission <br /> provided two benches with signage on the back of the benches at the Cole <br /> Memorial Building. <br /> • Paul Bunyan Chair and Benches at Bobber Park—The chair and benches have <br /> been refinished. <br /> • Bicycle Friendly Community—The Park Commission is working with the <br /> Chamber of Commerce to do its part in making the City a bicycle friendly <br /> community. <br /> • Playground/Splash Park—The Park Commission has been discussing the <br /> possibility of a playground and/or splash park to be located somewhere in <br /> Trailside Park. <br />
