PEQUOT LAKES PARK COMMISSION THURSDAY, JULY 12, 2012 CITY HALL Members Present: Chair Pete Clement, and Commissioners Karen Ettesvold, and Deana Doughty Members Absent: Commissioners Jeff Bruch and Patty Bonicatto Also Present: Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Mike Loven, Public Works Supervisor; Mayor Nancy Adams 1. Call Meeting to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Clement. 2. 6/14/2012 Park Commission Minutes CHAIR PETE CLEMENT MOVED TO APPROVE THE 6/14/12 PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 3. Web site update The City Clerk noted that the website has been updated and requested the Commissioners to review the site and let staff know if there are any additions or changes that they wish to see. 4. City Flag The Clerk informed the Commissioners that Jeff Bruch had researched the possibility of having a City flag made. He found that a one-sided flag would cost approximately $300, not including the design time. It was the consensus of the Commissioners to put this on hold until a later time. 5. Memorial;Request The Clerk noted that the Commission has received a request for a memorial. She noted that the request was to have a tree planted near the War Memorial in honor of Margaret Skog Nelson. The Commission discussed several options. It was the consensus that a sugar maple, 10 feet in size, be purchased and planted by a local nursery and that the tree is planted on the north side of the memorial. It was stated that the tree should be planted in September or April. Karen Ettesvold stated she would contact a local nursery for a price and then the Clerk would relay the information to those requesting the memorial.
