CITY ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO PARK COMMISSION <br /> DUTIES <br /> Section 3-5.6. PARK COMMISSION PURPOSE, DUTIES AND <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> The purpose of the Park Commission is to serve as an Advisory Commission to the Park <br /> Director, or designate and the City Council. In that capacity,the Commission will review <br /> and make recommendations to the Park Director and City Council regarding the physical <br /> condition of the Pequot Lakes Park, ball fields, ice rinks and the equipment used to <br /> maintain those facilities as well as programs and in addition shall be responsible for <br /> developing policies regarding the maintenance and beautification of City park property. <br /> 1. Responsibilities: As an advisory commission,the responsibilities of the <br /> Park Commission are determined and granted solely at the discretion of the <br /> Pequot Lakes City Council. The Council retains the right, responsibilities and <br /> privileges granted unto it by the State of Minnesota and the voting residents of the <br /> City. Said responsibilities shall include the following: <br /> A. Advise the Park Director in preparation of the annual budget. <br /> B. Assist and advise the Park Director in determining cost and <br /> feasibility of improvements. All proposed improvements shall be <br /> recommended, along with time lines for completion,to the City <br /> Council for approval. <br /> C. Assist and advise the Park Director on the maintenance, <br /> replacement and purchase of equipment and on expenditures for <br /> grounds improvements. <br /> D. Assist in researching, writing and presenting grants that may be <br /> available to the City of Pequot Lakes and organizing and carryout <br /> fundraising activities for park projects or programs. <br /> E. Assist and advise the Park Director regarding programming <br /> activities. <br /> 2. Objective. The objective of the Park Commission is to ensure the ongoing <br /> standard of excellence in the City Parks,through oversight of the grounds, <br /> equipment,maintenance, and programming. <br /> 3.
