PEQUOT LAKES PARK COMMISSION THURSDAY, JUNE 13, 2013 CITY HALL Members Present: Chair Malecha, and Commissioners Ettesvold, Nagel, and Gibbons Members Absent: Commissioner Bruch Also Present: Sandy Peine, City Clerk and Mike Loven, Public Works Supervisor 1. Call Meeting to Order Chair Malecha called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. Consider Agenda The agenda was approved. 3. Park Commission Minutes COMMISSIONER NAGLE MOVED TO APPROVE THE 5/7/2013 AND 5/9/2013 PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER GIBBONS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. 4. Sibley Lake Park • Light Posts - Mike Loven stated that the Park Commission requested him to get an estimate on what it would cost to move the light poles closer to the park (further from the road), to bury the electric cables and to widen the street. He stated that the cost to covert the overhead wiring to underground and move the poles is $25,000. The cost to move the street to create more parking along Sibley Lake Park is $35,000. It was the consensus of the Commission members to take no action at this time due to the cost. • Dog Park — Commissioner Gibbons stated that he contacted Sheridan Wilson regarding the idea of creating a dog park at Sibley Lake Park. Ms. Wilson was positive about the idea and offered to assist. The Park Commission stated that the next step is to draw up a plan to include the size, location, signage requirements and fencing. Commissioner Nagel requested staff to check with Mark Jurchen regarding liability issues. The Commissioners requested Ms. Wilson to come to the next Park Commission meeting. • Bottom Step Replacement — Clerk Peine stated that the Sibley Lake Association will be replacing the bottom step. Mike Loven stated that the cost to replace all of the steps is close to $100,000.
