Sibley Park Survey Responses — 2013
1. Playground Equipment
• There is not enough playground equipment
• Existing equipment that is there is old, broken, damaged and filled with
graffiti. A variety of equipment to satisfy a broader range of ages.
• Possibly fence in the playground area.
• More equipment for small children — similar to Breezy and Nisswa
2. Lighting
• Have lights on at night time so park does not seem like a dangerous
hangout.
• Move street lights from middle of street into the park.
• Lighting is needed down there, maybe some small lights on the steps
also (3 emails).
3. Streets/Traffic
• Realign city street to the survey lines, this will allow two way traffic on
Pequot Blvd and allow for full 90 degree parking all the way around the
park.
• Put in regular intersections at the north and south ends of Pequot Blvd
with stop signs in all directions.
• Sibley Street should have a dedicated space on the edge for
pedestrians and bicycles to connect with the rest of town and the trail.
4. Landscaping
• Remove lots of trees at south part of park to open it up.
• Clear shrubs and small trees from bluff so light penetrates the park.
Rebuild the stairway and retaining walls, they are rotted and
dangerous. Possibly welded expanded grate?
• Set upon cemented sonotubes; that way the landscaping would be
cheaper and easier to install.
• Paved walkways.
• Irrigation system, so it can actually have some green grass (3 emails).
• Too dark and shady. Clearing brush and trees may help with
mosquitoes
