She <br /> suggested that there may be a need for some trash barrels and no littering <br /> signs. <br /> The Commission members discussed park names. Council Member <br /> Gardner was available by SKYPE. Council Member Gardner suggested <br /> three names: <br /> • South Mayo Nature Preserve <br /> • Mayo Lake Nature Preserve <br /> • Rustic Park <br /> COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD MOVED TO NAME THE PARK MAYO <br /> LAKE NATURE PRESERVE. COMMISSIONER NAGEL SECONDED <br /> THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 8. Dog Park <br /> Sheridan Wilson, Grade 8 — Pequot Lakes Middle School stated that she <br /> is participates in 4H and is working with dogs on certain projects. She <br /> explained that one project she is considering is a dog park. She explained <br /> the concept of a dog park. <br /> • Dog park would be a fenced in area <br /> • The parks vary in sizes but would need at least an acre in size <br /> • Allows dogs to be active <br /> • Allows dogs to socialize <br /> • Makes the town a good stopping point for dog owners <br /> • Promotes responsible ownership of dogs <br /> • Makes for a better community - people socializing and getting to know <br /> each other. <br /> She noted that the Rules of a park would consist of the following: <br /> • Hours - sunrise to sunset <br /> • No aggressive dogs allowed <br /> • Dogs must have current vaccinations <br /> • Females in heat and dogs under 4 months prohibited <br /> • Owners are liable for damages or injuries inflicted by their dog <br /> • Owners are required to clean up after their dog <br /> • No firearms <br /> • Maximum of 2 dogs per handler <br /> • No smoking or alcohol <br /> • All personal property must be removed daily <br /> • Owner must keep dog in sight AND Under control <br /> • No littering <br />
