This property was graciously donated to the City of Pequot Lakes. The
land has been conveyed as a perpetual conservation easement to the Minnesota Land
Trust. The property consists of many different vegetative cover types including upland
forests, and lowland shrub swamps. The land is located 3 miles south and west of
Pequot Lakes with Hurtig Road bordering the property on the east. The property
surrounds the southern portion of Mayo Lake. The topography is mostly gently rolling
with some steep slopes along the lake. There trails on the property that are used for
recreational activities and management access.
The City's objectives for this nature preserve are:
. To use these lands for non-motorized recreational activities.
y To develop recreational trails for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and
wildlife viewing; to add picnic tables and benches; and construct a small parking
area.
➢ To keep the lands rustic (no development of structural facilities).
To maintain the environmental integrity of the Mayo Lake shoreline including no
development.
To maintain large, colorful trees in a park-like setting over a long period of time.
