I contacted Mayor Malecha to discuss this issue and to ask her what the technical meaning of"RADAR SCREEN"was and if she was aware of something that I had done to be placed upon it. It seems that Mayor Malecha doesn't fully understand the complexities of Planning&Zoning,because she also was unaware of what that meant and totally unaware of what I would have done to be on it,whatever it is. I was, however, able to make contact with the office ofDr.T Stanley Veourdin, Physicist and Senior Fellow at the Institute of Aerospace Technology at Langley Air Force Base regarding a definition of an image on[and it's relationship to]a radar screen. Simply defined. Dr. Veourdin described an image on a radar screen to be a "spot", and the spot would be "something to monitor closely, be wary of isolate, attack or destroy,". His credentials are available upon request. Although he seemed a bit standoffish and bothered by what he termed "a risible display of inanity" he seemed like a pretty sharp guy. After a full explanation of the inquiry he muttered something regarding having to spend$6,000 to move his deck 4 inches to the west and offered me great encouragement in my quest. Feel free to reproduce and distribute the above if"Radar Screen"becomes an official moniker or required syntax essential for proper communication between the Planning&Zoning Department and the humble citizens of Pequot Lakes_ Following my conversation with Mayor Malecha,an armed representative of the City of Pequot Lakes came to my place of business at 31012 Government Drive to discuss the City's position, stating that there would be no permit issued and I would be in violation of the ordinance if I followed through with my plan to engage in commerce outside of my premises, however,being the City acknowledged some minor inconsistencies in the manner that other vendors were allowed to operate freely,I would be allowed to operate for 1 day only. This spate of generosity was followed by a somber warning that I would be subject to arrest and imprisonment should I choose to violate the ordinance on any following day_ I have since been informed by those that watch over us that the City further acknowledges that perhaps the current ordinances might not be just quite to the standards that they should be and that some future pontification might be required prior to making a decision to take some action in the future to not completely alienate those individuals that might try to earn a living by trying to simply do business in Pequot Lakes on a level playing field- This may seem long and drawn out to you,but perhaps you can sense my lingering frustration. I have 8 specific questions for you; 1. What measures have you taken to correct these issues? If the ordinances have been amended,please forward a copy to me. 2. If no action has been undertaken as of yet,when do you plan to begin?
