August 8, 2003
Lakes Gas Company
Steve Sargeant,V.P. —General Manager
P.O. Box 400
Forest Lake,MN 55025
Re: Temporary Structure
Dear Mr. Sargeant:
Consistent with the agreement we had with you to place a structure temporarily on your
property, and
Consistent with your representations to remove the building, and
Consistent with our previous correspondence with you indicating that, if the building was not
removed,we would find you in violation of the Ordinance,
We are writing you at this time to notify you that you are in violation of the Ordinance. The
structure you have on blocks on your property is illegal and must be removed immediately.
Failure to do so will prompt us to take more aggressive enforcement action.
As per our Ordinance, we will not issue you any more land use permits. Additionally, you
potentially face misdemeanors fines of up to $700 per day.
It has been over a year since you placed this temporary structure on your property and we
began dealing with this issue. It is unfortunate that such a simple matter has grown to this
proportion. We urge you to act as a responsible local business owner and follow the
agreement that you made over twelve months ago. It is embarrassing to this office that we
even have to ask.
Please notify us when the building has been removed.
Sincerely,
CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES
Charles Marohn, PE
Planning and Zoning Administrator
Cc: Planning Commission
Dawn Bittner, Zoning Clerk
