Box 415 Pequot Lakes,MN 56472 Re: ISTS Installation Dear Mr.Morrison: In May of this past year,we contacted you regarding the installation of an individual sewage treatment system on your property. It was the observation of our inspector that your system was undersized based on the number of bedrooms you have in your home. After we contacted you, you,your wife and I had a very spirited discussion on the matter. It was my understanding based on that conversation that you were going to remove the egress windows to resolve the situation. Our inspector has informed us that he has since visited the site and has observed that final grading has been completed and that the egress windows have not been removed. Based on that observation,he has not approved your installation. We concur with the inspector's findings and,unfortunately,are forced to find you in violation of our local Ordinance,not to mention the state rules under which we operate. For your reference, we are forwarding the language from the code that we quoted to you last May. At this point,you are left with the same options we presented to you in May. Our recommendation is that you make the minor modifications to your system necessary to bring it into compliance. Obviously this would have been easier last May,but it is still an option today. The other option is to go with your proposal and removed/fill in the egress windows. We do not recommend this option,but agree with you that the installation would then meet our Ordinance. We are requesting that,within the next thirty days,you indicate to us what course of action you propose to take and what your timetable is for completion. Since we have not been real successful in verbal communication,we respectfully request that you put your intentions in writing. Resolution of this matter in a timely fashion will negate the need by the City to take more aggressive enforcement action. We look forward to hearing from you.
