city of <br /> Pequot <br /> OLD BUSINESS—MOBILE HOME PARK,DISCUSSION <br /> Agenda Item: 7 (a) <br /> Background Information: The new owners of Pequot Terrace Mobile Home <br /> Park, Chris and Ronda Disch, would like to visit with the Planning Commission <br /> regarding future plans for the mobile home park. <br /> The following is text from Planning Commission Member Norton's August 22 <br /> email: <br /> All, <br /> I spoke with a local city inspector and he directed me to Herman Hauglid a code <br /> representative for manufactured structures for the state. He indicated any complete <br /> renovations require normal inspections to maintain/update their seal. He also indicated <br /> that even minor renovations should be getting inspections as these types of homes have <br /> unique specifications and most renovations will void the seal. (example: the drywall <br /> needs to be glued and mechanically fastened in a mobile home. (most contractors would <br /> just screw to fasten drywall)). <br /> His options were as followed with his preference being no.1: <br /> 1. Have a city inspection occur during construction <br /> a. In our case,one could hire a `floating' inspector as needed. <br /> b. This would obviously have to be planned during construction as they would <br /> inspect:structural,electrical, plumbing,and insulation prior to the drywall being <br /> installed. <br /> 2. Have the state inspect <br /> a. Herman indicated this would not be ideal but is possible <br /> 3. Have a 31 point inspection.This would be done by the state and is commonly used to <br /> re-seal a unit after renovation. In this particular case,the unit could be fully completed <br /> prior to the installation of drywall. Even though this is an option, Herman preferred a <br /> complete visual inspection during construction. <br /> Recap: <br /> • My opinion is that these units NEED to pass an inspection prior to us allowing them to <br /> circumvent the 5 year stipulation. I would suggest option 1 or 2, both of which should be <br /> coordinated and paid for by the party requesting to bypass the current law. I would <br /> recommend Pequot Lakes to have contacts for such`floating' inspectors and/or contact <br /> to the state 31 point inspection individual. <br /> State Contact: <br /> Herman Hauglid <br /> �..
