PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
NOVEMBER 19, 1996
The Pequot Lakes planning and zoning commission regular meeting was
called to order by Chairman Jurchen at 6: 39 pm, November 19, 1996 at
the Pequot Lakes City Hall. Roll call showed M. Jurchen, G. Jenson,
D. Gola, T. Russell, all present. Absent were C. Robideaux & G. Welu.
Present also were: Bonnie Watt, David Oien, Scott Rickard & Jerry
Thompson. Motion by D. Gola, 2nd by G. Jenson to approve minutes of
previous meetings.
Chairman Jurchen announced that the Pequot Lakes/Sibley Township
comprehensive plan was adopted by the Pequot Lakes City Council.
Motion by D. Gola, 2nd by G. Jenson, to recommend to council that G.
Welu be appointed to another 34year term on the P&Z.
This left one seat open to be filled by D. Oien, S. Rickard or J.
Thompson. Motion by Gola, 2nd by G. Jenson, to postpone recommenda-
tion of the 5th member until the December 17 meeting when all 5
P&Z members would be present.
D. Gola reported he received a phone call from Steve Baker, a resident
of the trailer court on the North side of town that numerous cats and
dogs have died in the last year and he suspected antifreeze may be
the culprit. Mr. Baker expred his concern that heavy equipment
owned by Alan Carlson, parked on property owned by Vern and Linda
Buss, may be the source. Mr. Baker had also called Mark Forsberg,
our chief of police on this matter. An inspection of the area by D.
Gola revealed that although there may be some fluid leakage from these
vehicles, it appeared that any runoff would go to the west and not
northeast into the trailer park area. Further discussion of this matter
will be on the agenda for the December meeting.
D. Gola reported that he had received complaints of large trucks
parking close to the corner in front of Brandanger' s Office Supply
on Front Street, obstructing the view of traffic coming into the
downtown area from the west. This matter will also be referred to
council.
D. Oien mentioned that an old unlicensed pickup has been sitting for
2 years on the north side of Arvig Telephone' s smaller office building
on 2nd St. This, according to T. Russell, is a police matter and will
be referred to Mark Forsberg.
Meeting adjourned at 7:25 pm.
D. Gola, Secretary
