PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING& <br /> ZONING COMMISSION <br /> REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 19, 1997 <br /> The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning & Zoning Commission was called to <br /> order by Chairman M. Jurchen on Tuesday, August 19, 1997 at 6:35 p.m. at the Pequot <br /> Lakes City Hall. Roll call: M. Jurchen; J. Thompson; G. Welu and F. Martinson present. <br /> Absent was G. Jenson. <br /> Motion by G. Welu and seconded by J. Thompson to approve the minutes of the previous <br /> meetings as presented. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Commission Member G. Jenson arrived at this time. <br /> Taren Saccoman, Tree Board Member discussed the tree ordinance with the Planning <br /> Commission Members. The commission wanted to know how active the tree board is <br /> and how they are handling tree removal for new construction. T. Russell explained that <br /> she is trying to work out a solution with the building inspector, to this problem of trees <br /> being removed before building permits are issued. The commission expressed the desire <br /> to work more closely with the tree board to minimize tree cutting wherever possible and <br /> replanting when required. If a developer need a conditional use permit for tree removal <br /> the tree board will be notified of the meeting. <br /> The commission reviewed the map and inventory of existing on-street parking spaces <br /> which was prepared by the zoning administrator. The commission suggested that prices <br /> be obtained to blacktop additional parking spaces along the west side of Government <br /> Drive. <br /> Chairman M. Jurchen reminded the commission that the council will be holding a <br /> hearing on August 25th to gather additional public input on rezoning a portion of the <br /> DNR trail property for United Building Centers. <br /> The commission received a copy of PCA Chapter 7080 On-Site Sewage Treatment <br /> Requirements for review. <br /> Motion by F. Martinson and seconded by G. Welu to hold a public hearing on Sept. 2, <br /> 1997 at 5:00 p.m. to amend zoning Ordinance No. 163 section 9.10 to allow by <br /> Conditional Use Permit, Professional Office Building in Light Industrial Districts and <br /> change the minimum building size in Light Industrial Districts to 3,000 square feet. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> The council will be holding a special meeting on August 20, 1997 at 5:00 on tax <br /> increment financing. <br /> Motion by F. Martinson to adjourn at 8:35 p.m. Motion seconded by G. Jenson and <br /> unanimously carried. <br /> Terri Russell,Zoning Administrator Mark Jurchen, Chairman <br />
