PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING&ZONING COMMISSION <br /> REGULAR MEETING,FEBRUARY 17, 1998 <br /> The Pequot Lakes Planning&Zoning Commission public hearing was called to order by Chairman M. <br /> Jurchen on Tuesday,February 17, 1998,at 6:30 p.m.,at the Pequot Lakes City Hall. Roll call: M. <br /> Jurchen,F.Martinson, G.Jenson, G. Welu present. Absent: J.Thompson. <br /> The purpose of the public hearing was to discuss the possible reclassification of a plot of property. <br /> The property involved is owned by Earl and Jeanie Hemmerich. The property is presently zoned Wooded <br /> Residential. Consideration will be given to changing it to Multiple Family Residential. Zoning <br /> Administrator M.Peisch reported that there were many phone calls inquiring as to what is planned for <br /> that property. The callers were curious; no specific complaints were heard. The owner of the adjacent <br /> property asked that if the City does allow multifamily dwellings there,that the Commission consider <br /> requiring a buffer zone between the multi-residential areas and the single family residents. <br /> No members of the public were in attendance either in favor of or in opposition to this reclassification. <br /> The Chairman closed the public hearing,and the commission members discussed the reclassification. <br /> Motion by F.Martinson and seconded by G.Welu to amend the official zoning district classification and <br /> zoning map on the described property and make recommendation to the council. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> The meeting on the public hearing was closed at 6:45 p.m.. <br /> The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning&Zoning Commission was called to order by the <br /> Chairman M.Jurchen at 6:47 p.m.,on Tuesday,February 17, 1998 at the Pequot Lakes City Hall. Roll <br /> call: M.Jurchen,F.Martinson,G.Jenson,G.Welu present. Absent: J.Thompson. <br /> Motion by F.Martinson and seconded by G.Jenson to approve the minutes of the previous regular <br /> meeting of January 20 and the special meeting of February 2. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> The Chairman reported that there have been several meetings with the city engineers regarding the <br /> water/sewer and water tower proposals. Several sites for the tower have been discussed. <br /> The Chairman stated that a written request needs to be submitted to the City Council requesting the <br /> assistance of a professional or paraprofessional for the Comprehensive Plan and and for the cost of a <br /> subscription to a zoning bulletin. The Chairman will ask Breezy Point and Jenkins for a group approach <br /> to a planning effort and pooling of resources. <br /> The Trailside Park Visitor's Center was discussed.. Bart Dunn of Timber Bay Building&Design is <br /> working on the plans to address issues such as rest room use,handicap accessibility,and opportunities to <br /> obtain Chamber information. The Center hopes to open this year and will be an advertisement for the <br /> whole of Pequot Lakes area. The building has a railroad motif and could set a design precedent for the <br /> style and decor of other businesses. <br /> The Chairman closed the regular Planning&Zoning Commission meeting for a 3 minute recess. <br />
