PEQUOT LAKES
PLANNING&ZONING COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 16,2001
The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning&Zoning Commission was called to order by Forbes
Martinson at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Pequot Lakes City Hall.
Present were : Forbes Martinson, Greg Welu, Jerry Thompson, Taren Saccoman, Tony Maurer, Tommy Woog,
Marty Peisch,Nancy Caputa, Tim Houle and Wayne Chamberlain.
Swearing in of new members Tony Maurer and Tommy Woog was done by Marty Peisch.
ELECT A NEW CHAIRPERSON
Members were then called upon to elect a new Chairman for the Planning&Zoning Commission. Jerry
Thompson motioned that Tarren Saccoman be elected and Taren Saccoman motioned that Tommy Woog be
elected. Vote was split two for each, so a secret ballot was done with Forbes Martinson casting the deciding
vote. Votes were three for Taren and two for Tommy. Jerry Thompson made a motion to accept Tarren
Saccoman as the new Planning&Zoning Commission Chairperson. Motion was seconded by Tommy Woog.
Motion was carried unanimously.
REQUEST FOR COMMISSION ACTION
Wayne Chamberlain proposed his idea of a concession trailer on an empty lot to sell confectionaries. He made
it clear that he did not have an exact location yet. Nor did he purchase a trailer as he first wanted to present his
ideas to the Council. The Commission agreed that a semi permanent building would be preferred over a
`trailer'. Tom Woog asked to see a visual. Jerry Thompson wanted time to study this proposal. It was decided
to request additional information from Wayne and that he present more exact ideas by the February Council
meeting. Motion made by Jerry Thompson and seconded by Tony Maurer that we table this discussion for
additional information. Motion was carried unanimously. Forbes indicated that a Public hearing would be
necessary in March regarding this matter.
HANDICAP PARKING & CROSSWALK COMMITTEE
There will be a meeting on Tuesday, January 23`l at Scheela's Shanty at 7:30 a.m. Jerry Thompson volunteered
to attend the meeting on behalf of the Planning&Zoning Commission. Motion made by Tom Woog and
seconded by Jerry Thompson. Motion carried unanimously. Marty gave a little background regarding
crosswalks, non-enforcement of crosswalk laws and reserve officer training to monitor the crosswalks.
Pz11601
