Purpose-The City of Pequot Lakes is anticipating receiving requests in the Light Industrial,
Commercial Exempt and Multi Family zones that we do not have mechanism to deal with in their
present Ordinance. This could be handled as a PUD which is not an option. Here again because of
the transition between the two communities some items have not been dealt with.
The proposed Ordinance changes are included in the Staff Report which is included. In the proposed
new language in Light Industrial,PUD is listed under Conditional Use,which is compatible with the
adjacent properties.
John Derksen made a motion to pass#16 in Section 63.030 and add PUD to all three. Motion was
seconded by Mark Hallen, all ayes, motion carried.
Rhonda Rickard
5804 25th Avenue S.W.
Pequot Lakes,Minnesota
Purpose: Conditional use permit to allow commercial business within Light Industrial
Ms Rickard stated that she would like to use the Kinzie Candle(front of building)for a fitness center.
"It Figures".
Joe Dotty and John Derksen abstain due to business relations with the applicant and Mr.Derksen
being related to applicant.
The Commission just passed PUD,multiple use in one building.
Cheri Seils made a motion to grant the Conditional Use Permit with Mr. Marohn's
recommendations:
1. Within 60 days, the owner of the property must apply for a Planned Unit Development
to operate multiple businesses on the same parcel.
2. Operation under this conditional use permit is allowed for a maximum of 120 days
unless a Planned Unit Development accommodating the use has been approved or an
extension of the CUP is given by the Planning Commission.
3. The Commission may require, within the twelve months following approval of the
conditional use permit, that the applicant attend a hearing to review and/or modify the
conditions of approval.
Motion was seconded by Tom Woog, all ayes with the exception of John Derksen and Joe Dotty who
abstained from voting.
No additions or corrections to the agenda.
Minutes from March 26,2002 meeting as corrected:
1. Paragraph 11-Error John Dotty-should be Joe Dotty
2. Paragraph 1-Error Donna Thurshank-should be Dona Trenkenschuh
3. Paragraph 8-Error no-sites-should be on-sites
4. Paragraph 10-Error Property located in residential area-should be property located in
commercial area.
Minutes approved as amended.
Item#6 P&Z Administrator's Report
The Commission felt that it was valuable to have the Zoning Administrators give a monthly report
on the over the counter permits given the previous month. This would give the Commission
members the ability to answer questions when they are asked why certain permits were given or
what is going on in a certain area of the community.
