SIBLEY TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION
JANUARY 22,2001'2
SIBLEY TOWNSHIP HALL
PRESENT: Craig Nagel,Karl Moon,Cheri Seils,Marty Nelson,Mary Pfeiffer,Dennis Slayton,
Cathy Malecha
Changing of the by-laws of the Planning Commission in regard to attendance at the meetings,in order to
protect having a quorum at our meetings. Research will be done on surrounding communities and further
discussions will continue at future meetings.
Minutes approved as read.
Ordinances to be revised:
Page 9(Metes and Bounds Description)
Add: A sketch of description will be required for a permit.
Page 115(Procedure)(Item C-Metes and Bounds lot split approval,1st paragraph)
Add after word accuracy: and a sketch of description to the Planning and Zoning Board for
Approval.
Page 98 Section 105-030 Permits required(end of paragraph add)
Permits not required
1. A satellite earth station antenna four(4)feet in diameter or less, located in an industrial
or commercial district,meeting required setbacks.
2. A satellite earth station antenna three(3)feet or less in diameter, meeting required
setbacks.
3. A tower less then 50 ft as measured from the ground.
Dock Ordinance will be discussed at a future meeting due to the fact that a new DNR ruling in on the
Commissioner's desk waiting for a signature.
A possible meeting with realtors,County based could become a reality according to Craig Nagel.
The City of Pequot Lakes has 20 acres in their Forestry District,Sibley Township has 10. Because the city
does not have any forestry district within their borders,it was suggested that the City bring their ruling in
compliance with the township. Reason for the township having ten acres is so that people could still use
the land as a tree farm with only 10 acres and have a home on same parcel.
Fee Schedule was discussed and additions and revisions were made. (Copy attached) Karl Moon made a
motion to make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to accept the revised Fee Schedule. Motion
seconded by Cheri Seils, all ayes, motion carried.
A resident came in to apply for Conditional Use Permit to use a guest cottage as a rental unit. The Board
discussed the matter and decided this was an area which is not covered by our Ordinances and therefore is
an area which would be hard to regulate. The decision was to return the application fee and not become
involved in rental property.
Karl Moon made a motion to make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to write and implement
a local wetland Ordinance. Cheri Seils seconded the motion, all ayes, motion carried. A series of meetings
will be set up with Keith Pohl and Dan Ecklund to achieve this goal.
Dennis Slayton would like to see a committee set-up to work on Archview and its applications for the
township. His suggestions for the committee are as follows: Dick Schiller,Karl Moon,Dave Sjoblad,
Dennis Slayton,Dan Ecklund,Steve Anderson,Nancy Rudbeck and Cathy Malecha.
