� Park Commission Minutes December 9, 2010 Page 2 ------------------------- 4. Bicvcle Friendly Communitv Mike Loven gave an update on the Chamber of Commerce Bicycle Friendly Community meeting. He noted that Cathy Malecha and Nancy Adams also attended this meeting. The discussion at the meeting centered on how to make our community more bicycle friendly. Suggestions included bicycle safety, signage, and bike racks. Discussion was held by the Park Commission regarding the possibility of a bike trail leading to Sibley Lake Park. It was suggested that the Park Commission budget for bicycle friendly signs and bike racks in 2012. 5. Proiects for 201 The Commission suggested the following ideas for 2011 park projects: • Finish the band stand • Put the signs on the Fishing Pier at Sibley Lake • Bike path to Sibley Lake • Bands in the Park - Cathy Malecha is working on the schedule � • Park brochures • Mayor Adams suggested conducting a survey asking for input from the community on what the citizens would like to see in Pequot Lakes in the line of parks and recreation • Mayor Adams suggested that the Park Commission look at a long range plan The Mayor informed the Commissioners that the Business Group is considering holding a farmers market in the summer and fall. She noted that the Business Group is also looking at ways to develop the west side of Pequot Lakes. 6. Other Business David Kennedy stated that he is considering the concept of renting bikes at the ice cream shop. He stated that when the Commission begins working on the splash park, he would like to provide input as to where it would be located. Mr. Kennedy stated that he is unhappy with the planting of 20 chokecherry trees which block the view to his business. He further noted that the band stand also screens his business and he would rather that the band shelter did not have a back wall. Mr. Kennedy suggested that the Park Commission present splash park idea to surrounding `� businesses.
