ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> �.. JULY 16, 2013 <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Jurchen, Barb Merritt, Cindy Rieck, and Cindy <br /> Roggenkamp <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Sheila Haverkamp, BLAEDC; <br /> Mayor Nancy Adams <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chair Jurchen at 8:00 a.m. <br /> 2. Approval of 6-18-2013 EDC Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER RIECK MOVED TO APPROVE THE 6/18/2013 EDC <br /> MINUTES. COMMISSIONER MERRITT SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 3. &4.Discussion on Technology <br /> The EDC discussed the growing need for broadband and fiber in the surrounding <br /> area. Sheila Haverkamp noted that she has been in contact with Bobbi-Jo Hartley <br /> of TDS regarding the issues of fiber optics and customer support. Sheila noted <br /> that she is also working with CTC to work at putting information together to give <br /> a better understanding of the terminology relating to the broadband/fiber optic <br /> issues. She noted that there is a learning curve regarding what type of service is <br /> needed for certain projects or situations. Sheila suggested that the EDC members <br /> review their own situation and report back with download and upload speeds and <br /> the cost for service. <br /> It was the consensus of the EDC to continue to discuss the issue and learn how <br /> and what it can do to support the service in the surrounding areas. <br /> 5. Tommy Woog's Resignation <br /> Mark Jurchen noted that Tommy Woog has submitted his resignation from the <br /> EDC. The EDC noted that he was a valuable member with much insight and will <br /> be missed. The EDC suggested that the Mayor contact Brad Erickson to see if he <br /> is interested in serving on the Commission. The Clerk noted that she would <br /> advertise in the Echo and on the City's website. <br /> 6. Discussion on Urban Rural Taxation Meeting <br />
