MEETING MINUTES <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Jurchen, Barb Merritt, Cindy Rieck <br /> MEMBERS ABSENT: Cindy Roggenkamp <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Sheila Haverkamp, BLAEDC; <br /> Mayor Nancy Adams and Dawn Bittner <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chair Jurchen at 8:00 a.m. <br /> 2. Approval of 7-16-2013 EDC Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER RIECK MOVED TO APPROVE THE 7/16/2013 EDC <br /> MINUTES. COMMISSIONER MERRITT SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 3. School Superintendent - Chris Lindholm <br /> Chair Mark Jurchen introduced Chris Lindholm who is the new School <br /> Superintendent. Mr. Lindholm gave a brief history of his past. He also spoke <br /> about his desire to work toward building a partnership between the School and <br /> City. <br /> Sheila Haverkamp introduced herself updated Mr. Lindholm on BLAEDC's <br /> mission and goals. <br /> Mark Jurchen stated that the EDC wants to see the school district grow and <br /> explained that it does this by moving people into the community by encouraging <br /> business growth and creating jobs. Mark Jurchen stated that many companies <br /> cannot find qualified workers. <br /> Mayor Adams noted that the partnership between the City and School District is <br /> weak and it is something she would like to see improved. Chris Lindholm <br /> concurred and stated that he would like to work toward building the relationship <br /> between the City and School District. <br /> Sheila Haverkamp explained that there is a need in the area to grow the <br /> technology sector and a need for a work force that has the necessary skills to <br /> accomplish this. <br />
