June 12, 2014 <br /> '.— Meeting with BLAEDC Execs: <br /> Sandy Peine, Nancy Adams,and Mark Jurchen met with two Execs from BLAEDC to discuss branding and <br /> marketing of the City.This is something the EDC is presently working on. <br /> Some of the key points that were mentioned during the discussions: <br /> • There is a need for a networking system to match jobs for spouses. Many times a couple moves <br /> to this area because one of them has acquired a job.We need a way to find a job for the other <br /> spouse that matches their career. It was suggested that this could be a role of BLAEDC. <br /> • The EDC should make contact with its larger employers to find out what they feel is good about <br /> the Pequot Lakes community and what is lacking or what improvements could be made to <br /> attract business and families.These companies would be able to identify the City's strengths and <br /> weaknesses. <br /> • The City of Pequot Lakes must brand itself before it can market itself. It was suggested that the <br /> EDC hire a marketing/branding company/person to assist the City in developing a brand. <br /> • Some branding thoughts discussed: <br /> • A good place to live <br /> • Quality of life <br /> • Safety <br /> • A good place to work and play <br />
