Economic Development Commission Minutes <br /> May 17, 2011 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> felt it was important to get information about WAC and SAC fees and a WAC and <br /> SAC policy prior to implementing the incentives for small businesses. <br /> Discussion was held about the current method of charging for WAC and SAC fees. <br /> The EDC questioned why the City does not charge based on a residential equivalency <br /> unit. They felt this would be a fairer way than the current method of charging a lump <br /> sum, which is the same cost for a residential user and a commercial user. The Clerk <br /> explained that when the City had a rate study done by a consultant, one of the <br /> recommendations was to adopt a policy regarding utility connections fees and <br /> determine residential equivalent units for different types of structures. <br /> To Do List for the next EDC Meeting in June: <br /> 1)Verify existing sewer capacity—Tina <br /> 2) Verify residential versus commercial sewer capacity - Tina <br /> 3) Determine why the City has not completed the Facility Plan—Tina, Sandy, <br /> Engineer <br /> 4) Develop a survey to use when visiting businesses regarding lot subdivisions— <br /> `-- Sheila, Dawn, Sandy <br /> 5) Develop a WAC and SAC policy which will take into consideration changing <br /> the way the City charges for WAC and SAC (by using a residential equivalency <br /> unit)—Tina, Sandy, Engineer <br /> 6) Discuss the subdivision process with the Planning Commission at the June <br /> Planning Commission meeting—Dawn <br /> 4. Small Incentive Program <br /> It was the consensus of the EDC to Work on a subsidy policy after information is <br /> provided on the sewer capacity and a policy on WAC and SAC fees has been <br /> adopted. <br /> 5. Government Drive <br /> The Mayor encouraged everyone to complete the survey and return them to City <br /> Hall. <br /> 6. Other Business <br />
