Minutes <br /> Economic Development Committee <br /> Regular Monthly Meeting <br /> September 20,2011 <br /> Members Present: Ed Larsen, Mark Jurchen and Cindy Rieck. <br /> Members Absent: Patrick Smith and Tommy Woog. <br /> Staff Present: Sheila Haverkamp, BLAEDC; Mayor Nancy Adams; Dawn <br /> Bittner, Zoning Administrator. <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Larsen at 8:04 a.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes: <br /> A motion was made by Mark Jurchen, seconded by Cindy Rieck, to approve the August <br /> 16, 2011 Minutes as read. All members voted"aye". Motion carried. <br /> Presentation by Landis+Gyr: <br /> Sheila Haverkamp introduced Jeff DeVries, Customer Operations Director for <br /> Landis+Gyr. Mr. DeVries explained how the company has grown from Hunt <br /> Technologies to become a global company with 5,000 employees. <br /> Mr. DeVries also explained how important the Brainerd Regional Airport is to their <br /> company. The EDC members agreed the airport is important to this area and will write <br /> letters of support to the Airport Commission. Sheila Haverkamp will supply a list of <br /> names and addresses to contact supporting the Airport. <br /> The EDC wondered if Landis+Gyr had an internship program. <br /> Industrial Park Subdivision Ordinance Amendment: <br /> The Mayor explained that the amendment only needed a majority vote and passed. <br /> Update on WAC/SAC and ERC: <br /> Council Member Ryan and the City Clerk will research the policy. <br /> Other Business: <br /> Lime Greenery: <br /> Mayor Adams explained that Lime Greenery is in default of their TIF Agreement. On a 3 <br /> —2 vote a letter of default was sent. A default in TIF must be done in stages. There <br /> would be another vote to rescind the TIF Agreement. <br /> The EDC suggested continuing the TIF to help the bank sell the property. Sheila <br /> Haverkamp will assist the City with options. It could be an incentive for the future <br /> property owner.
