Excerpt from Minutes of August 2,2011 Council Meeting <br /> L <br /> 6.1. Consider Ordinance Amendment for Industrial Park Subdivision Overlay <br /> District <br /> Chuck Marohn presented the Staff report and noted that the Planning <br /> Commission is recommending approval of an ordinance amendment to <br /> the subdivision ordinance for the Industrial Park. He explained that the <br /> amendment would streamline the process for subdividing lots in the <br /> Industrial/Business Park. He noted that the ordinance amendment has <br /> been prepared in coordination with the EDC and BLAEDC. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO ADOPT AN ORDINANCE <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 17 OF THE CITY CODE REGARDING <br /> INDUSTRIAL PARK SUBDIVISION OVERLAY DISTRICT. MAYOR <br /> ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Council Member Malecha stated that the amendment was good for the <br /> business community. Council Member Akerson stated that the <br /> amendment should apply to the entire City. <br /> Mark Jurchen stated that the City has a huge investment and asset in the <br /> ■ , Industrial Park. He explained that the EDC would like to maximize the <br /> City's investment and utilize the infrastructure by making it easier for <br /> property owners in the industrial park to split their lots. <br /> Council Member Ryan stated the ordinance shows favoritism and also <br /> indicated that he is not in favor of overlay districts. <br /> Mayor Adams stated that this is an attempt to assist businesses in the <br /> City. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE: COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON — NAY; COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER MALECHA —AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN — NAY; <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD —AYE; MAYOR ADAMS —AYE. <br /> MOTION FAILED 3-2.
