ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> ..- MINUTES <br /> DECEMBER 16,2008 <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Ed Larsen, Mark Jurchen, and Justin Bolz-Andolshek <br /> (arrived at 8:10 a.m.,Nancy Adams, Patrick Smith(arrived <br /> at 8:20 a.m.) <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Mayor Cathy Malecha, City Clerk Sandy Peine, Elissa <br /> Rogers, BLADC; and Dawn Bittner, Planning and Zoning <br /> Administrator, Ruth Ann Hanson, Chamber of Commerce <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chair Ed Larsen at 8:00 a.m. <br /> 2. Consider EDC Minutes <br /> JURCHEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 19,2008 <br /> MINUTES. ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3- <br /> 0. <br /> 3. Update from BLADC <br /> Sheila Haverkamp gave an update from the BLADC membership meeting. She <br /> explained the project that BLADC is working on at the Brainerd Airport. She <br /> explained that large flat screen televisions will be placed at the airport showing <br /> live news broadcasts with periodic commercials talking about the economic <br /> development activities and work activities available in the Brainerd Lakes area. <br /> Elissa Rogers reviewed the information on demographics that was provided at the <br /> BLADC Membership meeting. Elissa updated the EDC on the Business Retention <br /> and Expansion program. She provided an overview of 2007-2008 visits to <br /> businesses that were made. Elissa also reviewed the industrial park analysis that <br /> was done by BLADC. <br /> Sheila Haverkamp talked about a future meeting topic that she would like to <br /> discuss regarding "Green." Sheila informed the EDC that many cities list their <br /> industrial park properties with real estate agents. She noted that this is something <br /> the City should think about. Sheila stated that she would bring more information <br /> on both subjects at a future meeting. <br /> 4. Downtown Plan Implementation <br />
