MINUTES <br /> ■.. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> SEPTEMBER 15,2009 <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Ed Larsen, Mark Jurchen, Patrick Smith, and Cindy Rieck. <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Sheila Haverkamp, BLADC; Mayor Adams; Dawn Bittner, <br /> Zoning Administrator; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Erika <br /> O'Brien, HRA Director; and Ruth Ann Hanson, Chamber <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Chair Larson called the meeting to order at 8:04 a.m. <br /> 2. Consider Minutes <br /> PATRICK SMITH MOVED TO APPROVE THE JULY 21 AND JULY 28, <br /> 2009,EDC MINUTES. CINDY RIECK SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 3. Presentation by Business Owner David Kennedy <br /> Mr. Kennedy was not present. <br /> 4. Small Cities Development Grant Update <br /> Sheila Haverkamp, BLADC, updated the Commission on the status of this <br /> program as it relates to the Cities of Jenkins and Pequot Lakes. She explained that <br /> Elissa Rogers, BLADC and Erika O'Brien, HRA, sent out 90 letters to property <br /> owners that could benefit from the program. She indicated that two meetings were <br /> held and nine people were present. Sheila explained that at this point there is not <br /> enough interest generated to submit an application. She suggested postponing <br /> submitting an application until next year at which time there may be more <br /> interest. It was the consensus that the City and BLADC should continue to work <br /> on this program over the next several months to try and educate the public and see <br /> if more interest can be generated. <br /> Sheila informed the Commission that BLADC will be updating its website in <br /> conjunction with the DEED who will also be updating its website. BLADC will <br /> be holding a Website kick-off and will by trying to engage groups of people to <br /> define the vision of the website. <br /> Sheila updated the Commission on the 20/20 program. She explained a program <br /> in conjunction with Positively Minnesota called the Shovel-Ready Site <br /> Certification program. Sheila stated that BLADC is currently working with City <br />
