NOTES OF THE <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> FEBRUARY 16,2010 <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Jurchen, and Cindy Rieck <br /> ABSENT: Ed Larsen, Patrick Smith, and Justin Bolz-Andolshek <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Sheila Haverkamp, BLADC; Mayor Adams; Dawn Bittner, <br /> Zoning Administrator; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; and Ruth <br /> Ann Hanson, Chamber; Sheila Holley,Edina Realty; <br /> Chuck Knierim—Wild Rose Farm and Breezy Point EDA; <br /> Jen Koon, Pequot Lakes Physical Therapy <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Vice Chair Jurchen stated that there would be no official meeting or action of the <br /> EDC due to the lack of a quorum. He stated that the EDC would discuss agenda <br /> items. <br /> 2. Consider Minutes <br /> No action taken on this item. <br /> 3. True Protection Security—(VOVI) Matt Rowe <br /> Matt Rowe spoke about his business located in Pequot Lakes. He noted that the <br /> business of True Protection Security opened in June. He explained that this is a <br /> marketing business. He further explained that they have since launched a <br /> telecommunications business named VOVI which is the future of the business. <br /> Matt stated that he currently employs 40 employees. <br /> 4. SWOT Update <br /> Sheila Haverkamp updated the EDC on the process that has taken place so far by <br /> the SWOT Committee. She explained the recommendation of the committee as <br /> follows: <br /> It was the consensus of the SWOT Committee that a SWOT is not necessary at <br /> this time. The Planning Commission will coordinate all information that has <br /> been received to date, into a draft form of the economic development section of <br /> the Comp Plan. This plan will be given to the EDC for review to see if anything <br /> has been missed. The EDC and Planning Commission will work together to <br /> form a final working draft of the document. This will then go to other groups <br /> for input. <br />
