MINUTES <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> MARCH 16,2010 <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Jurchen, Patrick Smith, and Justin Bolz- <br /> Andolshek. <br /> ABSENT: Cindy Rieck and Ed Larsen <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Erika O'Brien, HRA Director; Mayor <br /> Adams; Elissa Hansen, BLADC; Ruth Ann Hanson, Chamber; and Dawn Bittner, Zoning <br /> Administrator. <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Mark Jurchen at 8:02 a.m. <br /> 2. Approval of Minutes <br /> JUSTIN BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK MOVED TO APPROVE THE 1/19/10 EDC <br /> MINUTES. PATRICK SMITH SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED <br /> 3-0. <br /> 3. SWOT Update <br /> Sheila Haverkamp explained that the SWOT Committee had met and came to the <br /> conclusion that there may be a duplication of efforts in that the Planning Commission is <br /> looking at some of the same information in regard to the update of the Economic <br /> Development portion of the Comprehensive Plan. She also noted that although there was <br /> not a quorum present at the last EDC meeting,those members present concurred with the <br /> SWOT Committee to hold off on a SWOT analysis at this time. <br /> PATRICK SMITH MOVED TO SET THE SWOT ANALYSIS ASIDE <br /> INDEFINITELY. JUSTIN BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> The Economic Development Commission discussed the need to revisit the City's <br /> Business Subsidy Policy. <br /> 4. Update on Housing Institute <br /> Erika O'Brien, HRA Director, and Sheila Haverkamp of BLADC updated the <br /> Commission on a new pilot program that Minnesota Housing is starting. The program <br /> involves a group of people who are trying to get rural areas to collaborate and make <br /> better use of funds and to come up with a project for this area. <br />
