ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> MAY 20, 2010 <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Jurchen, Cindy Rieck, Ed Larsen, and Justin Bolz- <br /> Andolshek <br /> MEMBERS ABSENT: Patrick Smith <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Sheila Haverkamp, BLADC; Dawn <br /> Bittner, Zoning Administrator; and Tommy Woog, Planning <br /> Commission Chair <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chair Larsen at 8:00 a.m. <br /> 2. Approval of Minutes <br /> MARK JURCHEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE 4/20/10 EDC MINUTES. <br /> JUSTIN BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED <br /> 4-0. <br /> 3. Comprehensive Plan Update <br /> Tommy Woog gave an update of where the Planning Commission was in regard to the <br /> completion of the economic development section of the Comp Plan. Mr. Woog explained <br /> that there have been about five months of meetings which involved a number of different <br /> sections of the community on this section. <br /> EDC Comments on the "draft" Economic Development Section of the Comp Plan <br /> May 18,2010 <br /> By Dawn Bittner <br /> INTENT: <br /> The EDC was pleased that the language was changed sending a positive message. <br /> Line 7,page 10, "the city needs to get a higher return on public investments"was <br /> discussed. What is the return and what is the higher return. The statement could be <br /> simplified stating the city needs to get a higher return on existing infrastructure. <br /> It is the governments'job to facilitate development. <br />
