Don Hickman stated that he feels the key issues have already been captured. He stated
that if some people feel they have not been heard we should encourage them to give their
input through the existing process of updating the Comp Plan.
Those present concurred with the idea of everyone working toward the same goal. PJ
Smith stated that once EDC section of the Comp Plan is done, the EDC can use this as a
work plan. It will give direction and focus to the EDC.
Discussion was held regarding whether or not we are missing input from some people or
organizations in the community, and if so, how do we get the feedback. It was the
consensus that when there is a finished draft of the Comp Plan, the plan could be
presented to groups for their input. PJ Smith and the Mayor offered to bring the plan to
certain groups for their input(Business Connect, Lions, Women's Group, Park
Commission, etc.).
Don Hickman suggested that the City continue to ask, "Are we getting where we want to
go?Are we on the right track?"
RECOMMENDATION TO THE EDC:
It was the consensus of the SWOT Committee that a SWOT is not necessary at this time.
The Planning Commission will coordinate all information that has been received to date,
into a draft form of the economic development section of the Comp Plan. This plan will
be given to the EDC for review to see if anything has been missed. The EDC and
Planning Commission will work together to form a final working draft of the document.
This will then go to other groups for input.
Sandy Peine
