MINUTES OF THE <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> DECEMBER 15,2009 <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Ed Larsen, Mark Jurchen, and Cindy Rieck. <br /> ABSENT: Patrick Smith, Justin Bolz-Andolshek <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Elissa Hansen, BLADC; Mayor Adams; Dawn Bittner, <br /> Zoning Administrator; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Mike <br /> Loven; Public Works Director; and Ruth Ann Hanson, <br /> Chamber <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Chair Larsen called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m. <br /> 2. Consider Minutes <br /> MARK JURCHEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE OCTOBER 20,2009, <br /> EDC MINUTES. CINDY RIECK SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 3. Discussion on Potential Land Available for the Expansion of Business Park <br /> The Clerk informed the EDC that Brenda Meyers has asked if the City is <br /> interested in purchasing property that they own for the purpose of expanding the <br /> City's existing business park. Mike Loven showed the EDC the location of the <br /> property which is located just east of the City's business park. He indicated that <br /> the highway will divide the property leaving only about 8 acres of property west <br /> of the highway and about 30 acres east of the property. The EDC discussed the <br /> proposal. It was noted that it would be cost prohibitive to extend sewer and water <br /> to the eight acres and that it would be difficult to access the property east of the <br /> highway. <br /> The EDC felt that the natural expansion of the City's business park will <br /> eventually be to the south of the existing business park which is property the City <br /> currently owns and is using as spray irrigation fields. It was also suggested that it <br /> would be best to keep the future expansion of the City's business park to the west <br /> of the highway. <br /> 4. Mission and Goals <br /> The EDC reviewed the EDC goals that were set by the Commission in 2007. The <br /> Clerk presented a purpose statement that was proposed by BLADC. It was the <br />
