MINUTES OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE DECEMBER 15,2009 MEMBERS PRESENT: Ed Larsen, Mark Jurchen, and Cindy Rieck. ABSENT: Patrick Smith, Justin Bolz-Andolshek ALSO PRESENT: Elissa Hansen, BLADC; Mayor Adams; Dawn Bittner, Zoning Administrator; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Mike Loven; Public Works Director; and Ruth Ann Hanson, Chamber 1. Call Meeting to Order Chair Larsen called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m. 2. Consider Minutes MARK JURCHEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE OCTOBER 20,2009, EDC MINUTES. CINDY RIECK SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 3. Discussion on Potential Land Available for the Expansion of Business Park The Clerk informed the EDC that Brenda Meyers has asked if the City is interested in purchasing property that they own for the purpose of expanding the City's existing business park. Mike Loven showed the EDC the location of the property which is located just east of the City's business park. He indicated that the highway will divide the property leaving only about 8 acres of property west of the highway and about 30 acres east of the property. The EDC discussed the proposal. It was noted that it would be cost prohibitive to extend sewer and water to the eight acres and that it would be difficult to access the property east of the highway. The EDC felt that the natural expansion of the City's business park will eventually be to the south of the existing business park which is property the City currently owns and is using as spray irrigation fields. It was also suggested that it would be best to keep the future expansion of the City's business park to the west of the highway. 4. Mission and Goals The EDC reviewed the EDC goals that were set by the Commission in 2007. The Clerk presented a purpose statement that was proposed by BLADC. It was the
