City of
Pe uot
q
Lakes .— _
AGENDA ITEM #5.1.
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Date: January 4, 2011
Su': Park Commission Update
Report: The Park Commission has been discussing the
idea of a splash park in Trailside Park. The Commission
requested the Clerk to inform the Council of this concept.
They would like to get a feeling as to whether this is
something the Council would like to see the City pursue.
Excerpt from Park Commission Minutes:
3. Water Splash Park/Trailside Park
Mayor Adams addressed the Park Commission regarding the idea of a
water splash park in Trailside Park. She explained that she brought the
idea up at the Pequot Business Group and there was a general consensus
of the group that this would be a good idea. She stated that Angela
Sandelin has offered to have a fund raising drive to accomplish this. The
Mayor explained that the City cannot fundraise on its own, but there can
be an independent group to raise the money and then donate it to the City.
Cathy Malecha suggested that the City look at writing a grant for this
project. The Clerk explained that this proposed project is a concept at this
point. She stated that the Council should be made aware of the idea prior
to moving forward. The Park Commission concurred and asked the Clerk
to inform the Council of the Park Commission's desire to move forward
with this project.
