Sheriff Dahl — Verbal Presentation Sheriff Dahl updated the Council on issues of concern including drugs, traffic accidents, and thefts. He noted that National Geographic has done a story on the County drug task force. 5.2. Preliminarv Budget/Levv Review The Clerk noted that additional cuts have been made by staff to the budgets since the preliminary levy was adopted which result in a levy of $1,519,518. The Clerk noted that there will be an additional cut of $7,831 due to an increase in Police State Aid. Mayor Adams stated that the City will no longer have to pay sales tax on � certain items in 2014. The Mayor suggested budget reductions in each department to reflect sales tax exemption savings. It was the consensus of the Council to approve the proposed budget changes to the preliminary levy, to have departments cut budgets to reflect sales tax savings, to increase the Police State Aid revenue and to have the Mayor and Clerk review the budgets for any other possible cuts. Council Member Pederson indicated that he would like to see a levy increase no greater than 2%. Council Member Pederson questioned the reason for doing Nelson Road. He stated that he did not feel this was an essential need at this time. Council Member Sjoblad and Council Member Gardner disagreed and indicated that there is a need to upgrade the road. 5.3. Park Commission Update Craig Nagel, Park Commissioner, stated that the Park Commission is requesting to raise funds to build a splash park and a playground to be located at Trailside Park. He provided a map of the park showing the proposed location of the splash park. He stated that the proposal includes the addition of a bathroom on the north side of the park. �
