• Spray irrigation field — Question on whether alternate route will affect the City's
spray irrigation field. The City has an agreement in place with the MPCA. The
.._. City is working with WSN regarding the method of treating the sewer and a
decision by the City will be made prior to 2017 when the project begins.
• The question was asked whether there would be water and sewer at the
intersection of 371 and CR 11. Currently the plans do not call for water and
sewer; however if the decision is made at a later date to add the utilities, it could
be piped in pretty easily even after construction.
Discussion was held regarding the connectivity to the business district with the
alternate route. Discussion took place regarding signage on the highway. It was
noted that a person would be able to see the downtown area from the County
Road 11 and 371 interchange. There will be 3 opportunities for motorists to exit
off of the freeway if they want to visit downtown Pequot Lakes.
• It was suggested by the businesses owners that the default should be to go into
Pequot Lakes and the second decision would be to go around town. Jim Hallgren
noted that the route has been chosen and to make these types of changes would
create a challenge.
• MnDOT reiterated the information to the property owners regarding the right-of-
way acquisition process. They noted that there are 80-90 parcels that will be
affected with 6-10 parcels that will require total relocation. It was stated that there
..- may be MnDOT survey crews in the area soon. There may also be some
environmental work beginning and some geotechnical (soil boring) work started.
Any soil boring will require MnDOT to contact the property owners directly.
MnDOT representatives met with property owners after the meeting to answer questions.
Meeting ended at 8 p.m.
