City Council Minutes February 3, 2014 Page 7 of 9 ----------------------------- Council Member Sjoblad indicated he likes the idea of including sidewalk the entire length of the road. The Council discussed sidewalk management. Mike Loven noted that the sidewalk will be an alternate bid so that the Council can make a decision after the bids are received. Mike Loven noted his concern of a sidewalk built around trees. Council Member Pederson stated he would like to see street lights in the project or put the conduit in to add them later. Mike Loven noted that the conduit can always be added and with boring techniques it is not very expensive. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER MOVED TO APPROVE THE PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR THE NORTH WASHINGTON AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. Council Member Pederson questioned whether a six-foot sidewalk is large enough considering two feet would be lost due to the parking of cars. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 9.3. Request to Hire Part Time Maintenance Worker Mike Loven informed the Council that he has completed the interview process for the Part Time Maintenance Worker and is recommending that the Council hire Jerry Logelin. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO HIRE JERRY LOGELIN AS PART TIME MAINTENANCE WORKER AT 48 HOURS EVERY TWO WEEKS BEGINNING 2-4-2014 AT $15.21 PER HOUR WITH AN INCREASE TO STEP TWO OF THE PAY SCALE FOLLOWING A SUCCESSFUL 6-MONTH PROBATIONARY PERIOD. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- 0. 9.4. Proiect Priority List (PPL� Mike Loven stated that the City Engineer is requesting the Council to authorize a PPL application for wastewater related improvements to the proposed 4-land Highway 371 and the Facility Plan. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY ENGINEER TO SUBMIT A PPL APPLICATION WITH WASTEWATER IMPROVEMENTS RELATED TO THE PROPOSED 4-LANE HIGHWAY
