Staff was directed to schedule a meeting with applicant, the Street Department, and their
liaison to discuss improvements to North Sluetter Road.
APPLICANT: City of Pequot Lakes.
Applicant requests rezoning of City to New Zoning Classifications.
Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. Chairman Woog explained the difficulty the
City has had working with two zoning maps and an ordinance that didn't define all
zoning classifications. An Opt-out list has been prepared of property owners who wish to
have a separate public hearing on their parcels. Parcels can be added to this list up to the
City Council meeting held the first Tuesday of August. The property owner and
neighboring parcels within 350 feet will be notified of the public hearing. The Staff
Report will be prepared and available one week prior to the public hearing.
A motion was made by Dean Williams, seconded by Tom Adams, to recommend
adoption of the new Zoning Map, minus the Opt-out List, minus additional names added
to list since Planning Commission meeting, and minus Planning Commission
recommendations, based on the following findings of fact.
1. The rezoning is consistent with the City's Comprehensive Plan and Future Land
Use Map.
2. The new zones were created based on the criteria laid out in the new Land Use
Ordinance and the Comprehensive Plan.
3. These rezonings are not being proposed by individual property owners, but are
part of the City's Comprehensive Plan.
4. These rezonings do not constitute spot zoning.
All members voted"aye". Motion carried.
ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS TO AGENDA:
Add to New Business: Wilderness Point Sewage Treatment.
NEW BUSINESS:
SUBDIVISION CONSIDERATION,KEVIN WITTWER:
Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. Mr. Wittwer will bring in new survey with
driveway shown as separate lot.
OLD BUSINESS:
(This was moved up on the agenda as Mr. Whalen was in the audience.)
Planning Commission 8
July 21, 2005
